While preparing for an event, I came up with an off-the-rack framing solution for the Tatuaje and Liga Privada prints. Custom framing is the best choice if price is no object, but custom framing is expensive. I thought I'd share this with you guys to give another option.

Any time you frame artwork that has been created on paper there should be a little space between the glass and the paper in order to allow the paper to breathe. This is usually accomplished by using a "window matte" in between the artwork and the glass. The use of this matte also creates a much more attractive and professional look for the framed artwork. The problem is that having custom mattes cut to fit the artwork can get expensive. They tend to cost upwards of $20 per matte and I personally prefer using double mattes when I frame art. I found a couple of precut mattes that will work. They leave more of the paper visible around the image than I like, but they still look good.

For the Tatuaje print I used a 16x20 precut matte with a window for an 11x14 image. When it list an image size it does not mean that the window is 11x14. They are designed for photographs so the actual size of the window is smaller than the measurement. This frame was $45 but it was 50% off, making it $22.50. The double matte was $16, so the total cost was $38.50 plus tax.

For the Liga Privada print I used a 16x20 matte with a window for a 10x13 image. This frame was also half price. The original price was $40 and the double matte was $13, making the total cost on this one $33 plus tax.

This is "Tatuaje" in an 11x14 frame which I also picked up for 50% off. I used an 11x14 matte with a 6x8 window which fit perfectly. The total cost was $32. The same size frame and matte will work with the Kristoff print as well.

If you take the time to look around, there are almost always frames available for 40-50% off. Just try different sizes of precut mattes to find the one that works best and you will be able to create a great visual presentation even on a limited budget.
